VIRTUAL CARE PROGRAMS

COVID-19 Recovery Clinic

Specialist care for Long COVID symptoms, delivered virtually. Call to schedule an appointment at 302-428-2400 - Option 2.

Our specialized online clinic is designed for anyone experiencing health problems at least eight weeks after a COVID-19 illness. We aim to fit care around your life, whatever your symptoms— from fatigue, headaches, brain fog, depression and anxiety, to taste and smell problems and trouble sleeping or exercising.

How to schedule an appointment

You or your care provider can call 302-428-2400 – Option 2. You can also ask your primary care clinician or specialist at ChristianaCare to place a referral directly into your electronic health record.

Three steps for a convenient COVID-19 recovery

1. Full health screening

After you’ve been referred by your primary care provider or made a direct appointment, you’ll have a video visit with one of our internists (a doctor of internal medicine) who will perform a telehealth screening of your symptoms. They will also review your health history and evaluations to date.

2. Personalized care plan

The internist will then meet with our team of specialty clinicians to develop a plan that’s customized to your needs and symptoms. For example, you might be prescribed medicine, see a specialist or be recommended alternative treatments like physical therapy.

3. Stay connected to your team

All communication is done through a secure texting platform or by email.

Your COVID-19 recovery team

Our specialists include an internist, primary care physician, pharmacist, cardiologist (heart doctor), pulmonologist (lung doctor), sports medicine physician, neurologist (brain and nerve doctor), endocrinologist (doctor that specializes in diseases related to endocrine glands that regulate hormones), and psychologist.

COVID-19 Recovery Clinic FAQs

Most people recover from COVID-19 in a few days to weeks, but up to 30% experience health problems that last weeks, months, or years after the infection. These problems are known as Long COVID.

Common symptoms include fatigue, headache, and brain fog. Other symptoms that have been reported: chest pain, coughing, depression, anxiety, dizziness, heart palpitations, fever, hair loss, menstrual changes, muscle or joint pain, nausea, shortness of breath, sleep problems, and smell and taste problems. These symptoms may get worse after physical or mental activity and can come and go.

The COVID-19 Recovery Clinic is a distinct program you need to enroll in separately, not included in your Virtual Primary Care Membership.

We also provide group therapy led by dedicated psychologists who support you with compassion and guidance for navigating life with Long COVID. Learn more about our virtual behavioral health programs.

Yes, it’s possible so we advise that you continue practicing COVID-19 safety. Get your vaccine and booster shots if you haven’t yet received them; immunity from a previous infection does not offer as much protection as the vaccine and booster series.

  • General tips: Return to activities slowly, pace yourself.
  • Shortness of breath. Consider breath training which can help you take deeper breaths and breathe more easily. Methods include pursed-lip breathing and breathing with your diaphragm
  • Coughing: Prop up your head with pillows to help control continuous bursts.
  • Brain fog: Be patient with yourself. Use sticky notes and calendars to remember tasks.
  • Depression or anxiety: Regular activity, like walking, may help. Get plenty of sleep, avoid drugs and alcohol, consider talking to a counselor, and take medicine as prescribed.
  • Muscle or joint pain, or headaches: stretching may ease muscle pain. Ask your healthcare provider about over-the-counter pain medicine.
