Concussion Clinic

Get expert concussion care without leaving your home. Ask your provider for a referral and for any questions, call 302-428-2400.

Did you know you can have a concussion without realizing it? Symptoms can be subtle like balance issues, vision problems, dizziness and headaches, and they aren’t always immediate. Even if you feel okay, concussions are brain injuries that need proper care and evaluation.

It can be difficult or unsafe to drive with a concussion. That’s why the Center for Virtual Health provides specialized treatment through video visits, ensuring you won't miss out on the care you need.

How does it work?

1. Get a referral

If you’ve had a hard blow to the head or experienced whiplash and don't feel right, ask your provider to refer you to our clinic.

2. We diagnose your symptoms virtually

Our care team is prepared to effectively evaluate and treat your concussion symptoms virtually. The initial video visit lasts around 60 minutes with follow-ups generally taking 30 minutes. If your concussion care requires in-person attention, we will work together to arrange follow-up care that’s best suited to your needs.

3. You get a customized treatment plan

We design a tailored treatment plan, using a team-based approach. For example, we might refer you to ChristianaCare experts in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral health.

4. Helping you return to a normal life

We monitor your recovery and guide you back to everyday activities.  Between appointments, you can easily reach your care team by messaging them through our patient portal or secure SMS text platform.

Virtual Concussion Clinic FAQs

Much like an office visit, your virtual specialist visit will be billed to your insurance, and you may have a copay – check with your insurance provider for more details. The number of visits you need depends on the care plan we’ve developed for you. However, by sharing improvements in your symptoms through our secure texting platform, you could reduce the number and lower your out-of-pocket costs.

Yes, we always collaborate with your primary care provider and any other specialists you usually see. We can also coordinate visits with new specialists if you need them.

Most concussions can be managed with video visits. But in some cases, a virtual visit is just the beginning, and more care is required to fully diagnose and treat your condition. If you need in-person personalized treatment, we can refer you to the various options and resources available at ChristianaCare locations.
